April 27, 2025, 3:00 PM, Ronnie Rice and The Cryan Shames
WHERE:Des Plaines Theatre Building, 1476 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL 224-354-2333 (Map)
An historic 1925 movie theater, renovated and reopened in 2021.
In the late 1960s, Ronnie joined the Chicago-based group, The New Colony Six and sang lead vocals on many of their hit records, including oldies favorites I Will Always Think About You and Things I'd Like to Say.
The Cryan’ Shames were the first Chicago rock group to sign and record with a major national label, Columbia. Their hauntingly beautiful compositions and intricate vocal harmonies helped shape the Chicago sound in the late 1960’s. When they learned another band was using their original name, they declared it a “cryan’ shame,” which became the inspiration for the new name. Their first single, “Sugar and Spice,” was released on Destination Music and reached #49 in the U.S. Other hits include “I Wanna Meet You”, “It Could Be We’re in Love”, “Mr. Unreliable”, “Up on the Roof” and so may more!
